Associação de Investigação e Cuidados de Suporte em Oncologia (AICSO) is a portuguese nonprofit public interest association founded in 2001. It is dedicated to the research, implementation and professional qualification on evidence-based supportive care in oncology. AICSO promotes general public information and public events to raise awareness to patient-centered interdisciplinary care of people living with and beyond cancer.

It is a program designed to promote the integration of physical exercise in cancer prehabilitation and rehabilitation with the aim of optimizing the treatment, quality of life and adherence to healthy lifestyles of people living with and beyond cancer.

MAMAMOVE Gaia after treatment

The MamaMove_Gaia after treatment trial aims to assess the effects of a community-based combined exercise training program on the quality of life, physical fitness, physical activity and inflammatory profile in breast cancer survivors.

MAMAMOVE Gaia on treatment

PROSTATA MOVE

The Prostata_Move trial aims to evaluate the feasibility of walking football in prostate cancer survivors. This study will also evaluate the impact of walking football on quality of life, cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle strength, balance and bone mineral density.

FIT4Treat

This Fit4Treat research project is studying the impact of multimodal treatment for locally advanced head and neck cancer on patient physical and psychological status. The efficacy of a structured exercise training program on the complementary supportive care to head and neck cancer treatment (surgery and/or concomitant chemoradiotherapy) will be tested thereafter.

Simposium ONCOFIT

The Oncofit - Exercise and Cancer Symposium aims to promote the discussion among surgeons, medical oncologists, fisiatrists, exercise physiologists, physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses, nutritionists and other health professionals about the integration of exercise training on the rehabilitation and supportive care of cancer patients. The first edition (13 and 14 September 2019), endorsed by MASCC, had the participation of several national and international speakers, including Dr. Morten Quist (Denmark), Dr. Anna Campbell (United Kingdom) and Dr. Lidia Brea Alejo (Spain).
